#findthejoy

What day of quarantine are we on? Truth be told, I don’t know the day it truly started.

I have struggled to reach out to my beloved clients for fear of not striking the right tone or carrying the right message. But, what I now know so many weeks later is that I truly miss my clients, and I miss the true joy of working with you inside your home. I have loved the texts and emails letting me know how the spaces we have created together are really being appreciated at this time, but I also miss meeting and planning and creating together. I miss you, and I am looking forward to the future when we can be together again. We can focus on things that in the past maybe seemed frivolous…paint colors, fabric choice, new sofas, yet they have taken on a new meaning now that HOME truly has become our everything!

I received a coloring project from one of my beloved vendors, F. Schumacher. The title of the email was #findthejoy. This picture is of a famous Schumacher fabric that they brought back a few years ago, and it was the FIRST fabric I picked out as a “must-have” when I was building my house in 2014. I credit my mom for my design talent. She passed away in 2013, and she did not have a chance to see me build this house we know call home. My mom LOVED lemons…lemon tea, lemon bars, lemon cookies, lemon cake, etc. When Schumacher reintroduced this fabric back into their library, I knew it needed a place in my home. It is a piece of my mom, with me, in my home, every day, and it truly does BRING ME JOY every time I see it.

So, when this came to my inbox with a command to #findthejoy, I knew I needed to write to all of you. I encourage you to #findthejoy in this strange time. Please color with your kids or your spouse or do it when you need some alone time, and share your creations. It will bring me so much joy.

Stay safe. Stay home. Stay healthy.
